Asked 4/23/21016 – Houston, TX

I got 2 tickets issued to me, for no driver insurance and expired vehicle registration in 2014. I was given a first court date. I went to the court in the timely manner. Over there I took the option for not guilty case. My case was scheduled for Oct 2015. I missed that date in October and two warrants were issued. I took care of those warrants this month, April 2016. Will they show or appear in my background check if I apply for a job? Please let me know. Thank you

Answer

Define “took care of”. If you just paid the citations, the warrants will be cleared, but paying the tickets results in a conviction, and a guilty judgment on a no insurance citation causes the Department of Public Safety to impose surcharges on your driver’s license, which may be suspended as well. Check with the DPS on the status of your license, but no warrants should appear on a background check.
