Asked 6/21/2016 – Dallas, TX

I got a MIC & MIP (consumption & possession of alcohol) in the same night, both on same ticket. I know not to plead guilty & do No Contest. Now, if I do get granted the probation & the class; do I need a lawyer? Will these still stay on my record if dismissed?

Answer

You do not need an attorney if you believe you can handle this matter on your own. You may want to talk with one, though. For example, for your purposes, there is no difference in entering a plea of guilty or no contest. Secondly, depending on your age, entering a plea of guilty or no contest may waive your right to appear before a Judge and request probation. Make sure you know what you are doing before you make an appearance in court.
