Can you ask person to drop charges?

I wanted to ask the person pressing charges against a relative of mine to drop the charges. Is it legal to do so?

Answer

I strongly advise AGAINST you having any contact with the complaining witness in your case. It could lead to more criminal charges. In any event, even if a witness wants to “drop charges”, the case can still proceed. Talk with a local attorney as soon as you can.
