I just found out when I went to renew my DL that I had an outstanding violation for no seat belt from Parker County, back in August 2010. Added to this is a failure to appear 216.OO on top of the 173.00 fine for no seat belt. If I am recalling correctly I went to court on the no seat belt and it had been settled. I did not prior to this year have had any issues with renewing my DL. Isn’t there a statuary of limitations on no seat belt of 2 years. There must be some loop hole to get this resolved without having to pay this outrageous demand of money and to take the hold off renewing my license.
Answer
You may contact an attorney who practices criminal law in Parker County. The statute of limitations is tolled when the State files the charging instrument with the court. You may have an issue, however, if you have already entered a plea in thus matter. Contact a local attorney to see what can be done.
