This is my question in 2012 i was charged with possession of marijuana with 100 pounds it was a third degree felony and I got probation for 7 years everything was good I never broke my probation but in 2014 I was arrested and served time in jail for an federal investigation related to the same thing that I was convicted for (possession) I was 9 months in a federal prison and they gave me 1 year probation that I sucesfully completed 02/12/2016 but on 02/18/2016 I got stoped by a state trooper and I was in possession of marijuana again 112 pounds I agree to coperate with the officials and I didn’t get arrested but now that I see how everything is going on I’m scared of what could happen I haven’t talked to the detectives anymore and I didn’t report to my probation officer is there any way I could get help I don’t want to be in jail again my question is if I could get like more years of probation and cooperate thanks

Answer

CAN you get probation? Yes. Will you get probation? Probably not. First, in your line of work and the professional associates you have, I would not be discussing your situation on the internet. Law enforcement is not the only entity with access, and your employer may not like you cooperating with the police. Their idea of due process is quite different. Second, get with your attorney. See exactly what the Government wants and decide whether you are willing to provide that information. Do you have enough information to provide to go into the witness protection program? What does that entail and are you willing to go that far? This is a life altering decision, so choose wisely.
