Asked 3/29/2016 – Denton, TX

I was pulled over for my window tint being too dark. I only had tint on my passenger windows and they were 15% (bought it at Walmart)…my car was towed due to no insurance…my car was and is insured i just failed to have my card in my car. Figured the cop could pull it up by policy number which i had but cop didn’t take it.

Answer

No. The model of the vehicle is not an element of the offense, so an incorrect make or model listed on the citation will not invalidate the ticket. Get the window tint removed and set your case up for a pretrial haring. Bring proof of your insurance and tint removal and show it to the prosecutor. If this sounds a bit labor intensive, contact a local attorney.
