How long can you be held in jail past your release date?

My wife was sentenced to serve time in jail from Jan 29 -March 29 but there is some type of paper that her lawyer says the judge has to sign for her to be free now there sayin it may be the 30th smh.

Your attorney has the answer for what the confusion is. Your wife would have been sentenced to jail for a certain number of days. The Sheriff’s department will then calculate her actual release date, given back time credit, good time credit for trustee status, etc. She will be released when the Judge says she will be released, so find out what needs to be signed and make sure your attorney gets it done.
