Asked 4/6/2016 – Alvarado, TX

In 1993 I was arrested for felony forgery. The case was dropped to misdemeanor theft. In 1996 I was arrested for possession of pot, which any is a felony in Illinois. The case was dropped due to illegal search. I was on probation at the time and it was revoked because of this. That made the first case a felony again , and I was put on probation again. I have done some research, and I have found that if I pled the right way when my probation was over I would have my voting, and gun rights would be restored. The disposition of all this was Nolle Prosequi.

Answer

You should contact an attorney in Illinois to determine if your felony conviction can be set aside. As long as a felony conviction remains on your record, you have the restrictions of a convicted felon.
