Asked 4/9/2016 – Texarkana, TX

I am currently on probation in Georgia but before I was sentenced, I moved to Texas. So they transferred my probation to Texas but I still had to pay fines to Georgia. Every month, I go to my Texas PO and I have never had any problems. Over the last 2.5 years, I have paid all of the fines due to Georgia. And now interested in seeking early release. However, Texas will not release me until GA does. But my PO in GA will not return my calls.

Answer

Georgia retains jurisdiction of your case. You must retain counsel in Georgia and have him/her make the request regarding your early discharge from probation.
