I was stopped because my paper tag was flying up w wind, cop ask me to step out of the vehicle into the front seat of his, he then of course ran my dl and registration which came back clear at which time he was writing me a warning ticket. After he was finished and I thought I was thru he then ask me if he could search my car, I responded, I didn’t think you have any probable cause to search me so no! Officer then proceeded to say, “I’m gonna take my dog around the car” he then ask me to step and stand in front of his vehicle. The officer pulled out what looked like maybe a great Dane puppy proceed to drivers side door, then what it looked like to me was officer prompted dog, dog let out a poor excuse for a bark then officer tossed a treat if some kind for dog to get all this happened in less than a min. Officer then stated he was gonna search my vehicle. 3 more officers came frisk me while he was searching my car. Before he searched my car he asked me if there was anything in car he should know about and I remembered my cousin had left his scales in my car and I had put them in glove compartment. You haven’t stated what you were charged with. If it is possession of drug paraphernalia, that is a class c misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500 plus court costs. Retain a local attorney, review the body camera of the officer made at the time of your stop, then decide if you want to have a trial.
