Asked 4/14/2016 – Houston, TX

I believe another defense attorney with whom I spoke with was under the impression I was trying to get free legal advice by consulting with him for a 2nd time (first consultation was only 30 minutes over the phone). In order to get back at me, I believe he made the chief prosecutor aware since he knew he was friends with my attorney in order to piss him off.

Answer

There is a reason why you contacted the attorney a second time. That attorney can only give you so much information and advice without finding out what the other side has to say. I don’t see how you can be upset for that attorney to casually speak with the DA about the case to find out what is going on. If the attorney wanted to upset your current counsel, her/she could have called that attorney directly and asked: “Are you going to withdraw as attorney of record?” or “Your client keeps calling me, what’s the deal?” It appears you are not comfortable with either attorney, so I suggest you find someone totally different to represent you. Otherwise, yo will not be satisfied with the results of your case, no matter what the outcome.
