Asked 4/16/2016 – Midland, TX

My brother was arrested and his status within the county jail states he is “pending disposition”. I am assuming pending disposition mean he has yet to be formally charged with his alleged act.

Answer

Pending disposition means the case has not been disposed; i.e., no plea bargain has been entered nor has the case gone to trial where the defendant was either found not guilty or found guilty and sentenced. If your brother is in jail, he should have an attorney. Contact that attorney to determine the status of the case. If you do not have the attorney’s name and number, you may contact the court where your brother’s case is pending and they can provide the attorney’s contact information.
