Asked 4/16/2016 – Dallas, TX

I had an “anonymous experience” with someone who isn’t my spouse. He stole my wallet but I didn’t realize until I was gone. It occurred at his residence and I know his name. He now knows mine and has my license, credit cards etc.

I’ve already canceled cards and reported as lost. I’m not sure if he was only after the cash. He won’t respond to me but I’m concerned he might blackmail me.

Answer

If you believe a crime has occurred, you should report it to the police. The threat of blackmail exists whether you file the report or not, and you cannot undo what you did. File the report and accept the consequences. This includes dealing with the obvious issues with your spouse, which lead to this “anonymous experience”.
