I’m 17 and my boyfriend is 22 and we want to know if it is legal to have sex.

Answer

The age of consent is 17 (See Texas Penal Code Section 21.11). You are not an adult, however, until you turn 18, and until that time, your parents have the legal right and duty to provide for your health, education, maintenance and support, including who you associate with, where you go and for how long. I have seen this situation explode in the past; wait until you are out of the house and self-sufficient before you consider any decision like this.
