Asked 5/13/2016 – Houston, TX
My probation for DWI (misdemeanor, first offense) is ending in a few days (and boy have I learnt my lesson). I have paid my last visit to the PO last month, paid all fees and did everything my probation required me to do. All I have left is an interlock in my car (that I need a letter from the court to remove). I just want to make sure everything is completed and closed correct to give me peace of mind. 1. Do I go to court and get some paperwork to show completion? 2. Who do I talk to when I’m there? 3. What paperwork do I walk out with? 4. Do I need a lawyer for this?
Thanks in advance for the help on this matter; I truly appreciate your time and responses.
Answer
Go to court and obtain an order to remove the interlock device. While you are there, you can speak with the clerk about when the order discharging you from probation will be entered and if you will be able to get a copy on line once it is scanned into the system. You do not have to file any motion or make any court appearance to terminate your probation; it expires on the date stated in the order.
