Asked 6/20/2016 – Cisco, TX

I was arrested and my vehicle was impounded. I could not afford the impound fees but 3 days later went to the lot and asked the town truck driver/impound lot owner if I could retrieve my personal property and keys. Not the key to the impounded car but to my home and other vehicle. He told me no, I couldn’t have anything.

Answer

You CAN, but you are in a tough spot. If you can’t pay impound fees, it’s going to be difficult to get private attorneys involved. Contact the city attorney’s office of the municipality that arrested you; that city contracts with the wrecker service and the city attorney may be able to give some help.
