The attorney is in good standing with the Bar Association and has not had a problem with the law in over ten years.

Answer

Define risk. Retain the attorney whom you feel best represents your interests and can obtain the best possible result in your case. If you trust this attorney, make the hire. If the past history of the attorney is an issue, find another attorney.
