I found a credit card. Out of desperation, I have no money in my account; I used it to buy gas and groceries. I only spent $100. I trashed the card. I feel so bad, I want to undo it. I don’t know the name on the card. I can’t afford any legal fees or go to jail. I know it was wrong, I immediately regretted. I want to make it right somehow.

Answer

You cannot unscramble eggs. You have committed an offense. Having no money is not a defense. Feeling bad is not a defense. Wanting to undo the act is not a defense. At some point, you will probably be contacted by a detective or investigator. DO NOT give them a statement; it will be used against you. Call the Ellis County Bar Association. Ask for contact information for any pro bono services. Good Luck.
