Asked 6/25/2016 – San Antonio, TX

I was fined as a minor for truancy, couldn’t pay the fine. I received a notice once, 10 yrs after the fine. Saying I owed for truancy. Now it has been over 16 yrs and I haven’t received any other notice. Do I still owe the fine? How can I find out? So that I can pay it.

Answer

If you can remember the court where the truancy case was filed, call them. If you do not remember the court, first call the county sheriff to see if there is an outstanding warrant, and then call the county clerk’s office to see if the case is remains pending
