Asked 7/20/2016 – Houston, TX

I recently find out that I have a capias warrant in Harris County for my arrest for a traffic ticket from 2012. I contacted the agency and they informed me that I could not post a bond on this warrant that I have to pay the fine of $297. I am unable to pay this fine and wanted to know how to best take care of this matter. I am willing to go sit this matter out however I don’t know where to turn myself in at. What would be my best course of actions?

Answer

Go to the municipal jail of the city where the warrant was issued from if you want to serve the fine out in jail. You may also call the court where the warrant is pending for further instructions on how to get time served credit.
