I got pulled over for speeding in 2012 and my amount due is $355(Dallas). I got a ticket for driving with an expired license in May of 2014 for driving with an expired license. I was not breaking any laws when I was pulled over. He said “I took the turn too fast” I was in an RX-8 with a 50/50 weight distribution and I know I was going a normal safe and low speed on the turn. He only wrote me a ticket for my license and not taking the turn too fast. It was like 1 am on a Friday or Saturday night. He was checking if I’m drunk. I didn’t know how to hire a lawyer and fight it without spending money. The amount due on that is $839.93(Mesquite). Like an idiot I never showed up to court or paid either because I didn’t have the money. All I want to do is renew my driver’s license so I can drive to my job and make money so that I can pay off my bills, student loans, and tickets. I cannot do this because it’s too expensive for my tickets and I have to pay them to renew my license. I have talked to many lawyers and it seems that it’s going to cost me money that I don’t have. I don’t know what to do. I’m starting to think I will just be stuck like this forever. Does anyone know how to help me?
Answer
Call a local attorney to see how much it would cost to post bond, remove the warrants and see what else needs to be done to get you clear with the DPS. You are going to have to spend SOME money, but you want to avoid convictions and hopefully spend less than the total amount of the fines.
