Asked 7/30/2016 – McAllen, TX

I have court for a misdemeanor class a (nonviolent) in a couple of weeks but I have two active traffic warrants on my record.

I want to take care of these two warrants now before I go to court for the misdemeanor because I heard I might get arrested

So my question is how do I take care of these two active warrants?

It says online I can pay but it doesn’t allow me to make payments and I’m assuming I must talk to the judge for that

Its been around 5 months since I’ve had these warrants and since the original court date from the traffic ticket…

Do I call the municipal court and tell them ” hey it’s me only 5 months late” my fear is they will put me in jail to make me serve out these warrants.

Or will they let me setup an appointment with the judge and will the judge make me pay them right then and there or arrest me?

Do I have to turn myself in get booked and bail out?
I really really don’t want to do that the fear of just being booked haunts me.

So what would my best approach to get rid of these old warrants?

Answer

Find a local attorney in the county where the tickets are pending. Bonds can be posted to remove the warrants at a fraction of the cost of the total fines, and there may be a way to keep these citations from being reported to the DPS as convictions as well.
