Asked 8/1/2016 – Brownsville, TX

A year ago, when I was 18, I was convicted of a Class C Misdemeanor D.U.I./Minor charge. I plead guilty in court and payed a fine, because I was not aware that there were other options such as deferred adjudication. I really want to get this off of my record or do whatever possible to make it less severe. I want to hire a lawyer to help me with this, but am not even sure if anything can be done. Is there any possibility that I can still get this charge expunged or sealed or are then any other options? Thank you so much!

Answer

Yes, you may eventually file a petition for expunction, but you must wait until you are 21 and must not receive any other alcohol related violation
