Asked 8/3/2016 – North Richland Hills, TX

So I got a traffic ticket in NRH, TX
I didn’t know go to court so I received 3 warrants.
2 for the No DL and Running a red light
And 1 for not appearing in court
I went to a lawyer to uplift the warrant and paid him for it and signed a couple papers.
But 4 days later I get arrested for those warrants. I paid $900 for the tickets, that way I get out of jail. I don’t have his # and he’s not available till Friday. What can he do for me now?

Answer

You may be able to get some of your money back if you posted cash bonds in order to be released from jail. You should have received a receipt when you paid the $900; on that receipt, there should be a deadline date listed of when you have to appear in court. Make should you or your lawyer contact the court on or before that date and enter a plea of not guilty. At your subsequent court date, negotiations can be held with the city prosecutor. I am puzzled about you statement “I don’t have his number” when referring to the attorney you hired. You can’t find his office or know how to contact him?
