Asked 8/4/2016 – Lubbock, TX

I currently have a warrant for a traffic ticket but didn’t have money to pay for it by my payment plan date it’s been about a week since the warrants been put out an I just made a payment online today . I was wondering if they’ll lift it or will I still have a warrant for not paying when I was supposed to. Also I’m currently on felony probation. Will this cause problems for me? ‘Revoke probation’?

Answer

If you violated the payment plan agreement, it may no longer be in place. Call the court in the morning and see if they will still honor the payment plan agreement. With respect to your felony probation, any violation of the law CAN be cause to revoke your probation, even a traffic citation. As a general rule, however, the probation department would much rather you paying monthly fees, fines and costs than have you sitting in jail over running a stop sign or whatever. Make sure you do not get arrested over the citation, and you should be OK.
