Asked 8/4/2016 – Austin, TX
My boyfriend was arrested in Elgin Texas and then was transferred to Bastrop county jail over the weekend. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, bail jumping, and driving with invalid license on multiple cases. He has been appointed a court lawyer and the lawyer says that he can reduce the bonds and my boyfriend can work on his cases out of jail. I just wish that he could actually get some time for his crimes and go away for a long time. Thank You.
Answer
If the bonds are reduced on your boyfriend’s cases, it means that he would have to pay less money to bond out of jail and be on the street while his cases are pending. You have no control over whether he will be sentenced to jail, but you have control over whether he goes away FROM YOU for a long time. He is charged with a violent offense and you obviously don’t want to be around him anymore. Listen to your instincts. Move out, change your phone, if he has been physical towards you, get a protective order. Do not be passive. Take control of your life. Ask your family and friends for help. Change your circumstance.
