Asked 8/10/2016 – Irving, TX
I recently found out that I have an outstanding warrant out of Carrollton, Texas from several years ago. Since then, I completed a year in a TDC facility and I am hoping to get time-served for this ticket, but am not sure how to get the proof I need to be able to do so. I was arrested on Feb. 1, 2013 and released on Jan. 31, 2014.
Answer
Contact the facility you were incarcerated in; they will be able to provide a letter of incarceration. Send a copy of this proof to the Carrollton court along with a request that the court grant time served on your case. This is the least expensive way to resolve your citation, but I can tell you from appearing in the Carrollton Municipal Court, they are not the easiest court to deal with. You may have to make a personal appearance, or even hire a local attorney to help in this matter.
