When a person goes to prison what’s the earliest they may be able to get out if the sentence is 10 years max? Can they get out early for good behavior? How often does the parole board review their case?
Answer
The earliest parole date for any prison sentence depends on the charge the defendant was convicted of. If it was an aggravated case, one-half to the sentence must be served before parole eligibility. Otherwise, generally one quarter of the sentence must be served, and good time credit is available. Find the inmate on the TDCJ website; an estimated parole date should be listed in his information
