I just found out I am not eligible for probation and my case is going into an open plea with a tough judge and prosecutor. What should I do to help my case? I don’t have the money for a lawyer and my court appointed lawyer hasn’t even talked to me…
Answer
It is impossible for any attorney to basically represent via the internet. You have to get to the point where you are comfortable with your attorney. That attorney has the same obligation to represent you in a zealous manner as if you paid him or her a million dollars. The attorney appointed for you still works FOR YOU. Call the office and make an appointment. Don’t wait until the day of court to talk with him in the hallway. Provide a listed of names, address and phone numbers of witnesses of the incident as well as character witnesses. Get letters of recommendation from your employer, church officials or other organizations that can say it is in the best interest of society for you to receive the sentence you are requesting.
