I am 17 years old and I shoplifted $59 worth of makeup from HEB and the loss prevention man stopped me and interviewed me and I admitted to taking the merchandise. I was extremely polite and apologetic the entire time and they thanked me for that, telling me that they will not make this the worst outcome for me. I received a citation that says theft shoplifting under $100. What happens now? What will they do at court? Will it come off my record?
Answer
You will have to make an appearance in court, and what will happen depends on the Judge. This is a crime of moral turpitude, and a conviction on this type if case can affect you for the rest of your life. I STRONGLY suggest you talk with a local attorney before you do anything else. Immediately.
