Asked 8/15/2016 – San Antonio, TX

I was going down a steep hill and a police officer pulled me over for going 13 mph over the speed limit. It was not a school zone, work zone, and the road conditions were perfect.

Answer

If you are found guilty of speeding, the matter will be reported to the Department of Public Safety as a conviction and points will be assessed on your driving record. You will have to contact your insurance agent to determine how any such conviction will affect your insurance rates. You may want to contact an attorney in your area to see what can be done to keep this matter from becoming a conviction.
