Asked 8/16/2016 – Austin, TX

I’m on probation for an obstruction to highway and recently I was pulled over for picking up my phone while driving. I didn’t get a ticket but every month my probation offer asks if I have had contact with law enforcement. In this case I have and I am not sure if this is a violation of not. Please help.

Answer

If you were not given a citation, you are not charged with anything so you have not violated your probation. You may tell your probation officer you were stopped by a traffic officer, then let go without receiving a ticket. You shouldn’t have any problems
