I was arrested for shoplifting in Wal-Mart it’s my first offense .I bail was set at 500 dollars , I was released by signing myself out but I never showed up for court. Now my bond is 1500 dollars cash.

Answer

The dollar amount a Court will grant for time served in jail towards a fine is discretionary (see Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 45.048). The minimum rate is $50 per day. That being said, this is a crime of moral turpitude. If you serve the time out in jail, a final conviction will be entered in your case and it will haunt you for the rest of your life. Contact a local attorney before you do anything.
