Asked 9/22/2016 – George West, TX
My woman at the time got arrested for some pills she had. It ended up being a felony charge and I bonded her out next day. In Texas, being out on bond for felony, is she allowed to work at a bar/nightclub, even if she was already working there before?
Another question if I may, if I don’t want to be held liable for her bond anymore, besides her violating the bond, is there another way I cannot be held accountable for her bond? Like is there a way someone can take over the bond, ex. Mother, father, etc.
Thank you for your time.
Answer
There is no statutory prohibition against a person on bond from working at a nightclub. Make sure, however, that there are no specific conditions of bond that would apply to your situation. If you do not want to be liable to the bond company, you may provide written notice to said bond company of this decision. The bond company, however, has the option to remove the bond they posted, and another warrant for arrest could be issued.
