Asked 9/22/2016 – Texline, TX

I received a ticket on 11-13-08 for DWLI. I forgot about it. I have renewed my drivers license twice, once in 2011 and again in 2016. About three weeks after the 2016 renewal, I received word that I had several outstanding tickets and Texas DPS would not renew until the tickets were taken care of. One was the one from 2008. I received bad advice, paid the fine, and now they have suspended my driving privileges. Can I do anything?

Answer

If you paid the citation, you are probably out of luck. You may be able to request a hearing on your license suspension, if you are within a few days from receipt of the suspension notice. Bring the notice of suspension to a local attorney and see what can be done.
