Asked 9/23/2016 – Houston, TX

Driving while impaired. They put me in the hospital in steed of jail. Was released, haven’t been able to come home. I’m disabled and chronically homeless!

Answer

If the case has never been resolved, you “take care” of a DWI that is 13 years old just like you take care of a DWI that is 13 days old. You hire an attorney, appear in court, review the evidence against you and decide on whether to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. The fact that you are disabled and chronically homeless does not absolve you from criminal liability. Call the Harris County Bar Association to see if you can get some help, given your financial situation.
