Son is in a federal prison in Texas and I am in Florida. He has been denied Lexapro by one of the psychiatrist. He was on it prior to being incarcerated, but went off 3 months prior thinking he could go without it. He suffers from severe social anxiety. He has been in since 9/2013. He has been to medical 3x in 2 weeks unable to breathe because of it. The female psychiatrist asked him what his charge was and then told him she couldn’t help him. Don’t know who to turn to.

A licensed physician in the State of Texas must prescribe any medication for an inmate in Texas before it is made available to the inmate by the prison infirmary. Contact the doctor who ordered the original prescription and request he/she make an evaluation on your son and see if a new prescription can be ordered. If so ordered, the ‘script can be sent to the prison facility who can then verify the order and supply the medication
