Hi I work in a retail shop. The loss prevention had a talk with me about some items I took. They made me sign an agreement but did not call the police. The total items equaled 1,800 and in Texas 1,500 is a felony. Can they press civil charges or criminal if I do not pay? Will they come to my house to see if I have more items? Will this be public knowledge? They suspended me and I quit after I clocked out. They had told me that it was over after I signed the paper. I just want no more issues. I told them I made a mistake in taking things but I was just bitter about how they treated me. They knew I was in dire straits and I cried. So they let me off. Is there anything else that can happen to me?
