Asked 7/7/17 – Beaumont, TX
I was put on probation in 2005 for felony theft deferred adjudication for 5 years. In 2010 I was revoked and convicted for the felony and place back on straight probation for another 5 years. I was taken off probation in 2012 or 2013 due to early release and all fines and fees paid. Does the 7year rule start on the disposition date or the date I was taken of probation in the state of Texas?
Answer
I need to understand what you mean by “the seven year rule” on a background check. There is a difference between what a credit agency can report (7 years), and what a criminal background check can reveal. If you were convicted of a felony, the only way it can be removed from your criminal record is through pardon from the Governor. Good luck.
