The plea of no contest is not the issue. If you successfully completed deferred adjudication probation and the case was dismissed, it is NOT a conviction. The affirmative finding of family violence, however, means that you cannot obtain a non-disclosure on the case, you can never possess a firearm, any future assault/family violence case against you can be enhanced, and there are other ancillary issues associated with such a finding.
