Asked 7/13/17 – Houston, TX

My son was approved for parole 3/30/17 upon a 6 month drug program which was to start in June and end in December 2017. He has yet to be sent to the drug program.

Answer

I cannot comment specifically on your son’s case, but in general most drug programs have a waiting list; a bed must open up for a new person to be admitted. Unfortunately, it may take several months before that happens, so a defendant may sit a jail for a considerable period of time before any drug program can begin. If completion of any such program is a prerequisite for parole, then your son may remain in custody after December, 2017. Good luck.
