Asked 8/9/17 – Fort Worth, TX

My fiancé got a sentencing of 120 days in Tarrant County. He went in a week ago (July 31st) He has 18 days served credit. I’ve heard of him possibly doing half the time or even 34 days with a 3 for 1 with good behavior. Is this typical and a possibility in Tarrant county? I have no correspondence with him due to him not having funds on his books but I am due with our child soon and I’m not getting any answers.

Answer

Good time credit on a misdemeanor case is calculated and granted by the county sheriff in charge of the jail, not the court. It is possible for your fiancée to serve less than the 120 days assessed. Call the jail and ask what his estimated release date is.
