I have a clean record — no convictions of any kind.

I went through a ugly divorce recently and ex-spouse applied for a PO that was never granted. There was no separate docket aside from original petition for divorce. The PO application was filed along with my ex’s counter but ex-spouse never went through with it and was dropped at the hearing since my ex didn’t go.

As far as i know it was never in effect, not even an ex-parte, and I was never served or made aware of it but when I see my divorce case on the county site it does show an application for PO being filed, though it doesn’t say against who but just a general record.

Can potential employers find out about this in a general background check? I tried running my background but it didn’t come up.

If a protective order was never granted, then there is no order to find. There is a difference on what is filed, who files it and where it is filed, however, between a protective order in conjunction with a divorce and one where no divorce is pending. Contact the attorney who represented you in your divorce and ask this question
