Asked 8/16/17 – Pearland, TX

Not much money for an attorney will an appointed lawyer help or not

Answer

Possession of marijuana under 2 ounces is a class b misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $2,000, confinement in jail for up to 180 days, or probation for up to 24 months. If your daughter cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent her. Make sure she appears in court on time for all scheduled court appearances, but it is impossible to predict what will happen in her specific case (I don not know the particular facts of the case, nor the evidence the State has in its possession). Good luck.
