Asked 8/16/17 – Houston, TX

We just want to get married been together for 10 years

Answer

If you have outstanding warrants, you are subject to arrest and detention upon contact with any law enforcement official which includes court bailiffs. That being said, it is not standard procedure for a court to run a warrant check on people trying to get married. Contact a local attorney to see what can be done about the warrants. If you don’t address the issue, you are subject to arrest on your way to the court house, leaving the courthouse, on your honeymoon, etc. Warrants don’t just disappear. Good luck
