Asked 1/28/2016 – Houston, TX

I have a IID in my car from a DWI and on probation until September 2016 I won my ALR hearing in June of 2015 so my license was never suspended by the state or the court.

Answer

You may operate a company motor vehicle that does not have an interlock device in the course and scope of your employment. If, for example, you are given a company car 24/7 and you are caught going to the store on a Saturday, you may have some explaining to do. Does your probation officer know about your situation? Did your attorney inform the Judge about your employment situation at the time of the plea? You want to avoid being arrested, THEN having to explain to the Judge what’s going on.
