Asked 1/30/2016 – New Braunfels, TX

I accidentally sold alcohol to minor and TABC cop happened to be at the store at the time of the sale. But it wasn’t a sting. The customer appeared to be old enough and lied about her age. TABC officer went after her and gave her citation (I believe) and gave store an administration Notice. He didnt give me any citation or nothing but did asked for DL and SS. He said after the store takes care of notice, TABC might take action against me. How likely is that to happen? What are my options?

Answer

At this point, you have to sit back and wait. Criminal charges may or may not be filed against you, but it will be at the discretion of the TABC officer. The statute of limitations is 2 years. You may want to talk with your employer and see if your job is in jeopardy. They face fines and possible suspension of their liquor license over your mistake, and I’ve seen people lose their jobs over this before.
