Asked 2/3/2016 – San Antonio, TX

This is to my following question. I asked about my camping ticket turned to warrant and was told to either contact a ticket attorney or show up to court. I’m not guilty. I never showed up and stated i was. I’m wanting to show up to court since I don’t have the money for a ticket attorney. I cant get a job because I have no id. If i show up to get id they will arrest me. My question is if I do and still want to plead not guilty and ask for a court appointed attorney to get the ticket dismissed or ask for a trial. Can I do that? The cops also told me if they take me in the judge usually dismisses the cases. Should I do that and what should I say to judge. I’m not guilty? And i cant afford a attorney to have the court reset using a attorney?

Answer

Call a local attorney. You are not entitled to a court appointed attorney on a class c misdemeanor, and if you just show up an pay the ticket, it will be a conviction. Someone local can tell you what your options would be in the Judge’s court.
