Asked 2/4/2016 – Dallas, TX

My boyfriend was arrested for in Dallas County for a warrant in tarrant county. He is waiting for tarrant county to pick him up, he has been waiting for 2 days. How long does this usually take?

Answer

I can’t tell you an exact time frame, but it usually depends on the charge he is being held on. Remember, it costs Dallas County money to feed and keep any inmate, so they want to move him as soon as they can. If he is being held for traffic warrants, Dallas will notify Tarrant County to come pick him up, and if he is not picked up in a couple days, Dallas will release him with instructions to report to the court where the warrants were issued from. On the other extreme, if he is being held on a capital murder charge, he will be kept until he is transferred. You can talk to an attorney about getting a bond set and getting him released before transfer.
