I’m on probation for a misdemeanor, I have never been convicted for any crime and I have never been in trouble before for nothing, I just got a job and I have not made any payments at all to my probation, I have been on probation for 3 months now, I just got a letter that I have to be in court on Feb. 9 for failure to comply
Answer
Your best way to avoid jail time is to pay the money you owe. Generally, Judges do not want to jail people for failing to pay fines, costs and fees. It costs the county money to keep you in jail, so it is preferable for you to be out working and paying the county. However, payment of fees IS part of the Court’s order, and Judges do NOT like it when people do not obey court orders. Pay the money and everybody will be happy. Paying the fees assessed does not guarantee you will avoid spending any time in jail. It’s just your best bet.
